On the evening of Friday, September 1, 2023, 45-year-old Robert Andrew Rose was fatally shot inside his home in the 700 block of Old Pavo Road in Pavo, Brooks County, Georgia. The shooting happened at about 9:15 p.m. and prompted a response from the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation took the lead on the homicide inquiry.

Investigators identified a suspect who lived at the same residence: Robert Rose’s 23-year-old son, Rory Rose. Rory Rose was taken into custody and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime and was booked into the Brooks County Jail. The GBI describes the investigation as active; the case is expected to be referred to District Attorney Brad Shealy for prosecution once the inquiry is complete.
