Two bodies found on a grassy shoulder near the I-85/985 split by Suwanee, Georgia, on a Sunday evening in late August 2023 were later identified as 16-year-old Juan Angel Montes and his 23-year-old sister, Maria Rosaria Montes Dorantes, both from Griffin. An autopsy confirmed both died of gunshot wounds; no vehicle was located near their bodies.

Friends said the siblings had gone out the night before with a man Maria knew and trusted, described as a family friend. Maria did not pick up her baby from the babysitter as planned, prompting concern. Investigators identified two suspects: 41-year-old Manuel Lorenzo Sanchez, charged with two counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and 24-year-old Ricardo Lorenzo Montes, charged with tampering with evidence. At the time charges were announced, both suspects’ whereabouts were unknown and they were considered at large.

Police believe the siblings were shot on the side of the highway in the early morning hours before their bodies were found that evening. Does anyone have information about Juan, Maria or the events around that night that could help investigators?
