Taylor Dickens, 32, of McDonough, Georgia, was killed during a child custody exchange in the evening of June 16, 2023. Taylor and Marren Dickens met Charles Corbitt at the Pilot Travel Center on Eatonton Road in Madison. Between about 7:00 and 7:30 p.m., a physical altercation broke out in the parking lot and Corbitt produced a .357 Taurus revolver and shot Taylor four times at point-blank range in the presence of multiple children.
After the shooting, Marren Dickens tried to drive Taylor to a hospital but stopped in front of a nearby McDonald’s for help. Police and paramedics were called; Taylor was taken to Morgan Medical Center and died of his injuries. The Madison Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation treated the incident as a homicide. Charles Corbitt III of Augusta was identified as the shooter, arrested, and charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Does anyone have information about the custody exchange that evening or witnessed the confrontation at the Pilot Travel Center?
