On June 6, 2023, Rasheed Khalil Canty, 46, was shot and killed at an apartment complex in the 500 block of West First Avenue in Albany, Georgia. The Dougherty County Coroner, Michael Fowler, determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head. The shooting was counted as the seventh homicide in Dougherty County that year.
Canty, known as Sonni, was born November 10, 1976, in Albany. Friends and family remembered him as a lively, energetic man, a devoted father described as a super dad, and an entrepreneur always looking for the next business opportunity. Police identified a suspect who lived in the same apartment community as the victim and took that person into custody and charged him with murder.
If anyone knew Rasheed, his routine, or activity around that apartment complex on June 6, please share what you know.
