In the early morning hours of June 4, 2023, officers responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle at the InTown Suites on Northlake Drive in Conyers, Georgia, found 33-year-old Dontavious Hardeman dead inside his pickup truck from multiple gunshot wounds. Hardeman, a father of five from nearby Newton County, was described by his family as laid-back and helpful and deeply loved by those who knew him.

Conyers Police opened a homicide investigation and released images of two teenagers who were believed to have been with Hardeman before the shooting; part of the incident was reportedly captured on surveillance video. One suspect, a 15-year-old boy, was turned in by his parents on June 5 and is to be charged as an adult with murder and theft by taking. The second suspect, 17-year-old Quintavious Morgan, was located and arrested June 6 and booked on a murder charge. Police said the teenagers knew Hardeman, but a clear motive had not been released.

If anyone saw activity at the motel or has information about Hardeman’s last movements, please come forward to assist the investigation.
