On the evening of Sunday, June 4, 2023, 32-year-old Frederick Lamar Scott Jr. was shot once in the chest and died after an argument at a Shell gas station in Eatonton, Georgia. Scott, known to friends and family as Muffin and described as the life of the party, was unarmed during the confrontation. His father, Frederick Scott Sr., reached his side immediately after the shooting; Scott was later pronounced dead at Putnam General Hospital.
Investigators identified 24-year-old Lajuan Peire Evans of Covington as the suspect. Police say Evans held a gun while pumping gas and talking with Scott before firing the single fatal shot. Evans turned himself in the day after the shooting; the Morgan and Putnam County sheriff’s offices assisted the Eatonton Police Department. Authorities have said the gun and Evans’ cellphone were not recovered, and Evans was charged with malice murder.
What information do readers have about that night at the Shell station or about Frederick Lamar Scott Jr.?
