On the evening of April 8, 2023, 24-year-old Trenton Walter Harris was at a barbecue in a parking lot on Mercer University Drive in Macon when an unknown vehicle drove by and multiple gunshots were fired into the gathering. Harris was found unresponsive at 3229 Mercer University Drive and was pronounced dead shortly after 10:30 p.m. by the Bibb County coroner.

Two other men, ages 23 and 25, were wounded in the same drive-by shooting and taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation; initial reports say no suspect had been identified and no arrests were announced. The shooting was Macon’s 17th homicide of the year and the second in 24 hours.

Are there witnesses or local residents who were at the scene that night or who saw a suspicious vehicle in the area?
