Ashton Nikolas Roberts was 15 when he was found dead in a field in south Macon on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. He had sustained several gunshot wounds and was discovered just before noon near the intersection of Houston Avenue and Rocky Creek Road in the 4100 block of Pinson Street. A neighbor said the gunshots sounded very close, as if they came from the backyard.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated and identified a suspect. Authorities arrested 57-year-old Algie Frankar Bryant and charged him with murder, two counts of marijuana possession, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. An arrest warrant alleged Bryant shot and killed the teen from the backyard of a property tied to a marijuana grow house. He was booked into the Bibb County jail and held without bond.

Ashton’s family and friends were left grieving after the sudden, violent loss. If anyone has information about Ashton, the scene on Pinson Street, or the grow house referenced in the warrant, please come forward.
