A November 9, 2024 shooting outside Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Illinois, left 41-year-old Shamaree Siller of Chicago dead. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. during a junior high boys basketball tournament. Siller had been attending with his middle-school-aged son when multiple armed suspects in masks and hoodies, waiting in a black 4-door Infiniti Q50, blocked him in the school parking lot. The suspects exited the vehicle, opened fire, and Siller was shot in front of his son. The assailants fled southbound through the parking lot toward Pulaski Road; Siller was taken to a local hospital and later pronounced dead by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities say there is no indication the suspects entered the school or that Siller was involved in any altercation inside the building. No other injuries were reported. Surveillance images of the black Infiniti Q50, believed to be the getaway car, have been released and the Country Club Hills Police Department is continuing its investigation. Counseling services have been offered to students and staff after the shooting, and community members have called for increased police presence at school events.
Did anyone see the black Infiniti Q50 in the school parking lot or heading south toward Pulaski Road that afternoon?
