Trenadi Michelle Lane Bateman, 19, was shot and killed on November 10, 2023, in the 4000 block of State Street in East St. Louis, Illinois. Officers responded to a report of a shooting about 7:30 a.m.; Bateman was found with a gunshot wound and taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights, where she was pronounced dead. Investigators say the shooting grew out of an altercation, but specific details about that argument and the identities of people involved have not been released.

East St. Louis police and Illinois State Police are working together to locate whoever is responsible. Her father, Dwayne Bateman, described her as friendly and sociable; she was the mother of a 4-year-old and reportedly had an apartment in East St. Louis. He last spoke with her in February and did not know why she was in the city at the time.
