Peter Hester Jr., 36, of East Carondelet, Illinois, was fatally shot in Washington Park, Illinois, on September 8, 2023. The shooting happened about 3:45 p.m. near 47th Street and Caseyville Avenue, where responding local police and the Illinois State Police Major Crimes unit found Hester and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators identified a suspect vehicle connected to the incident and later located it. Three people were arrested and charged in relation to Hester’s death: Deantae Hoskins, 22, of Madison, charged with first-degree murder and listed as an armed habitual criminal; a 16-year-old juvenile from Madison charged with first-degree murder; and Cheyennea Hoskins, 26, of Hartford, charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and aggravated assault. Deantae Hoskins and the juvenile are being held on $1 million bonds, and Cheyennea Hoskins is held on a $50,000 bond.
