Jahiem M. Law was 20 when he was shot and killed on the evening of July 13, 2023, in a parking lot in the 1700 block of South State Street in Champaign, Illinois. Two large groups had gathered and a fight broke out; during the altercation a man pulled a handgun and fired. Law was struck in the head and later pronounced dead at Carle Foundation Hospital. A 21-year-old Champaign woman was also wounded in the leg and treated for a non-life-threatening injury.
Police were called at 7:39 p.m. Officers and the Champaign Fire Department rendered aid before both victims were taken to the hospital. Investigators identified 20-year-old Trevione Robinson of Champaign as the person who fired the shots; police arrested him and charged him with first-degree murder for the shooting.
Did anyone in the area that night see the events in the parking lot or remember either group involved?
