Nathan Kyle Dobbs, born August 3, 1977, was shot and killed on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Shawneetown, Illinois. The gunshot struck the back of his leg and severed his femoral artery; police and emergency personnel arrived within three minutes but he bled to death almost immediately after being shot. The shooting happened just across the street from his residence.

Dobbs had struggled with drug addiction for many years and had recently been released from prison. Family losses just before his release profoundly affected him, though he had recently found some stability and happiness with his girlfriend Ashley and her family and had plans to marry and care for her children. He was still using and selling marijuana at the time of his death.

The case remains unsolved with no suspects or arrests reported. If anyone knew Nathan, saw activity near his home on February 15, 2023, or has information about the shooting, please come forward.
