Rayshawn Hudgins, 31, was fatally shot in Oak Park, Illinois, in the early morning hours of January 28, 2023. Police responded at about 3:42 a.m. to reports of shots fired near Chicago Avenue and Lombard Avenue. Hudgins, a Chicago resident, was walking westbound on Chicago Avenue when a vehicle approached and fired multiple shots from an unknown handgun. The vehicle then fled west on Chicago Avenue.

Officers found Hudgins on the ground near the north side of a garage on the 400 block of North Lombard Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was taken by ambulance to Loyola University Medical Center and pronounced dead at 4:45 a.m. The Oak Park Police Department’s preliminary investigation indicates Hudgins was targeted. No arrests or suspect identifications have been reported and police say there is no known ongoing threat.
