Kevion KeChay Mann was 23 when he was shot and killed on the afternoon of Sunday, August 4, 2024, in the 300 block of Southeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard outside the Kennedy Towers apartment complex in Evansville, Indiana. An autopsy confirmed death from a gunshot wound to the head; the shooting occurred in broad daylight not far from the Evansville Police Department headquarters.
Mann, known to family and friends as Kevi, Kevo, or 1K, was a high school graduate who worked at a local warehouse, enjoyed fishing, basketball, track, and video games, and is remembered by his grandmother, siblings, a stepson and a godson. Surveillance footage reportedly captured a confrontation in which Mann and another man squared up before the other man produced a gun and shot Mann as he tried to run away. Police identified two suspects and later announced arrests connected to the shooting.
