Willie Oxendine was 18 when he was shot late on the night of December 14, 2023, in a shooting linked to an apartment complex in the 3100 block of South Washington Street in Marion, Indiana. People with him put him into a private vehicle and drove him to Marion Health, where a Grant County deputy at the hospital alerted officers. Oxendine had a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, was later flown to a Fort Wayne hospital, and died there.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and said three other men were present when the shot was fired; police reported one of those men had been holding a handgun when it discharged. The same three men were identified as the people who transported Oxendine to the hospital. Weeks later, police arrested a juvenile wanted in connection with the shooting after a tip led officers to a residence where two firearms and alleged drug paraphernalia were recovered; public details on identity and charges were limited because the suspect is a juvenile.

Willie, born September 14, 2005, was raised in Marion, played football and basketball, and was remembered for a big personality, quick jokes, and singing. If anyone has information about that night, please come forward.
