Timothy E. Kates was 41 when he was found shot to death inside a home in the 1000 block of West 13th Street in Anderson, Indiana, on the evening of June 27, 2023. An autopsy reported he had sustained six gunshot wounds and a handgun was found next to his body.

Investigators say the killing grew out of a transaction that went wrong after Kates met with two men, identified as Roger Rodriguez Jr. and Demarcus Davis, at the West 13th Street residence. Authorities describe a sequence in which one of the men briefly went to his vehicle and, seconds after returning, multiple gunshots were fired. U.S. Marshals later located Davis in Mississippi and both men were held in the Madison County Jail pending legal action.

Kates was known locally as an anti-violence activist and rapper. Does anyone who knew him or who was in that neighborhood on June 27, 2023 have information that could shed more light on what happened that night?
