An argument about a borrowed car in Anderson, Indiana, ended with 52-year-old Jerry Wade shot multiple times and later dying of his wounds. The confrontation occurred about 7:28 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023, in the 500 block of West Second Street; officers found Jerry with critical gunshot injuries and he died at 12:25 a.m. the next morning in an Indianapolis hospital.
Police allege Jerry’s 31-year-old son, Jansen Wade, pulled a handgun and shot him during the dispute over a vehicle loaned by a friend, Todd Snellenbarger. Snellenbarger told police Jerry did not strike his son; he also said Jansen pointed the gun at him, forced him into an apartment, took his phone, and fled on foot while two shots were fired in Snellenbarger’s direction. Investigators did not find a knife at the scene despite Jansen’s claim that his father had hit him and brandished a knife.
Jansen Wade was arrested nearby the following morning, still armed, and held without bond. Prosecutors filed charges including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a narcotic drug and a firearms enhancement; the case was pending in court in January 2023. Does anyone have information about Jerry, his family, or that block of West Second Street that could help clarify what happened that night?
