Anthony Holdbrook, 18, was found with a gunshot wound shortly before midnight on January 1, 2023, in the 800 block of North 7th Street in Lafayette, Indiana. Emergency responders took him to a local hospital, where he died; his death was recorded as the city’s first homicide of 2023.
Investigators traced leads to Kokomo, Indiana, and identified five people who had traveled to Lafayette and left the scene in a gray PT Cruiser convertible. Between April 14 and April 20, 2023, four adults—Dimanione Lovelace Jr., Amarion Alsup, Bailey Hensley, and Shae Martin—and a 15-year-old male were taken into custody. The adults were charged with murder, robbery, and theft.
According to the investigation, the Kokomo group had arranged to meet Holdbrook under the pretense of a gun trade. Hensley later told investigators she was the driver. A struggle over a firearm occurred during the meeting, shots were fired, and Holdbrook was killed.
Did anyone in Lafayette or Kokomo have information about the meeting or the gray PT Cruiser?
