C’aveyoun Robinson, 16, was shot and killed in Lexington, Kentucky in the early morning of July 19, 2024. Police responded about 4:56 a.m. to the Gatehouse apartment complex on Liberty Road and found him in a vehicle with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators focused on 36-year-old Robert Constant, and a warrant charging him with murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon was issued days after the shooting. Evidence developed during proceedings linked the incident to a stolen Dodge Challenger; police say Constant was searching for that vehicle, found it at the complex with another person, and video showed Robinson among several people involved in the theft. Authorities allege Constant pulled Robinson from the stolen car, put him in the backseat of an SUV and fired into the stolen vehicle. Constant claimed self-defense; he fled as officers arrived but was later arrested on August 29 after an anonymous tip to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers, and the case was sent to a grand jury.
If anyone knew C’aveyoun or has information about the shooting or the events at the Gatehouse complex that morning, please come forward.
