Nicholas Webb, 45, was killed on April 5, 2024, after a dispute in the UZ community of Whitesburg, Kentucky, escalated into violence on GW Drive. Kentucky State Police from Post 13 in Hazard responded to a 911 report about 9:12 a.m. and found Webb with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was sent to the Frankfort Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.
Detectives report the shooting followed a physical altercation with his uncle, 56-year-old Rodney Lee Webb, who allegedly drew a handgun and fired. Rodney Webb was taken into custody at the scene and booked in the Letcher County Jail on charges of murder and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; his prior record includes drug-related convictions. Family and friends described Nicholas as kind and helpful, a married father and grandfather.
