On the evening of October 5, 2024, a shootout between two vehicles on Interstate 49 in Carencro, Louisiana, left 22-year-old Isaiah Alazeem Sam dead. The exchange of gunfire struck one vehicle carrying five people, causing it to crash into the Super Six Inn on the frontage road. Isaiah, who was inside that truck, was hit and later died of his wounds.
Isaiah was born July 21, 2002, in Lafayette and lived in nearby Church Point. He worked as a deckhand for Mike Hooks, LLC, as a horse trainer at Evangeline Downs, and as a construction flagger for RPF. He also owned General Lane Trucking, LLC. He had been married seven months to ShaniQua Pierre Sam and was father to a son, Azylon Royal Alex.
Carencro police, with help from the Lafayette Police Department, arrested three men in connection with the case: DeAndre Hippoly, Damien Doucette, 24, and Jerimiah Brown Jr., 21. Each faces charges including one count of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder; investigators say the inquiry is ongoing. Does anyone have information about the crash, the shooting, or Isaiah’s last movements that could help the investigation?
