Dean Johnson II was shot and killed shortly after midnight on December 11, 2010, outside a bar in Eustis known as The Gray Building at the intersection of Wall Street and Dixie Avenue. He was 30 years old and was struck multiple times; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The assailant has been described in reports as a Black male, but no suspect has been publicly identified.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has conducted an active investigation and repeatedly appealed for information, and detectives say a lack of witnesses or security footage has complicated efforts. The case remains unsolved and is treated as a cold case in the Eustis community, where family and friends continue to seek answers.
