Annette Dupre Touvell, 65, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was killed on the evening of Saturday, March 2, 2024, when a bullet from a drive-by shooting penetrated her home while she was inside watching television with her husband. She was taken to a local hospital and died of her injuries. Authorities identified a vehicle believed involved; that vehicle, reported stolen, was later located in St. Martinville.
Multiple arrests followed the investigation. Jordan L. Jones, 18, was charged with second-degree murder and held on $2 million bond. Two 17-year-old females were also taken into custody and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. Chelsea R. Hyatt, 36, the mother of one of the teenagers, was arrested on obstruction of justice allegations. Police identified 25-year-old Tyler D. Lewis of Bridge City, Texas, as a principal to second-degree murder and requested U.S. Marshals assistance to locate him. Separately, Briley A. Lewis, 18, Payton B. Mott, 19, and Andrew B. Norwood, 21, were arrested on drug-related charges after a Sulphur home search uncovered suspected THC vape oil and paraphernalia.
Touvell was born in Mobile, Alabama, on May 10, 1958, and had lived in Lake Charles most of her life. A homemaker who enjoyed gardening and time with family, she is survived by children and fifteen grandchildren. Does anyone have information about the shooting, the vehicle involved, or the movements of the suspects that evening?
