Jaylon Joiner, an 18-year-old student at Carencro High School, was shot and killed while getting off his school bus in the 200 block of Bradford Drive in Carencro, Louisiana, shortly after 3:00 p.m. on March 1, 2024. He suffered a gunshot wound, was taken to a local hospital, and died of his injuries. Joiner was the oldest of five siblings.
The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation identified multiple suspects. A 19-year-old, Malikai Doucet, and a 20-year-old, Todd Arceneaux Jr., were each charged with second-degree murder and taken into custody. A third suspect, Dearan Roy, was later apprehended in connection with the shooting. All three are awaiting trial. Authorities have not released an official motive; family members say at least one of the suspects was a friend of the victim, and there has been speculation the attack may have been retaliation for a prior incident.
Does anyone have information about Jaylon, his movements that afternoon, or the events on Bradford Drive that might help the investigation?
