John Quinell Davis, 39, was found dead in his home on South Railroad Avenue in Opelousas, Louisiana, on December 26, 2023. His death was determined to be a homicide. Ten days earlier, on December 16, Davis had been released from an eight-year prison sentence; his family had bought him a mobile home so he could restart his life and he spent Christmas with relatives before he was killed.
The case drew quick attention from local investigators. By January 3, 2024, police had identified two teenage suspects and one 18-year-old had been taken into custody and charged with murder. The investigation was ongoing as the community and Davis’s family awaited further details.
Did anyone in Opelousas know Davis after his release or see him around South Railroad Avenue in late December?
