On the morning of December 24, 2023, a drive‑by shooting at about 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of LA‑1 and Highway 77 in Plaquemine, Louisiana, left Justin Young and Marcus Williams dead. Young was a passenger in a vehicle with three other people when another car pulled alongside and its occupants opened fire. One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died after being transported to a local hospital; the two rear passengers were not physically harmed.

Police say the violence ties back to a 2018 armed robbery that sparked a long-running feud. Plaquemine Police Chief Stephen Engolio described roughly 30 shootings as linked to that dispute and said the conflict culminated in the Christmas Eve double killing.

By late December and early January, two men had been taken into custody: 22‑year‑old Markeithan Jamal McGinnis surrendered on December 30, 2023, and 20‑year‑old Travis Dawayne Pitcher was arrested January 5, 2024. Both face two counts of second‑degree murder and two counts of attempted second‑degree murder; the investigation is ongoing.

Did anyone in Plaquemine see either vehicle or the shooting that night, or have information about the feud that led to this violence?
