Kameran James Bedsole, 36, was found dead inside a residence on Jasper Road in New Iberia on November 14, 2023. Responding deputies from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office discovered Bedsole with several gunshot wounds and opened a homicide investigation. He was a New Iberia native, a bricklayer who later worked offshore in the oil and gas industry, and is survived by a daughter, his mother, stepfather, stepmother and half-brothers. Friends remembered him as a jokester who loved to cook and spend time with family.

About two weeks after the discovery of the body, authorities arrested an 11-year-old girl in Lafourche Parish and charged her with first-degree murder; her identity was withheld because of her age. A 15-year-old boy described as her brother was later arrested in Houston and charged with first-degree murder; he was transported to a juvenile detention center in Jackson Parish. Their mother, 40-year-old Sabrina Washington, was arrested in Iberia Parish on two counts of being an accessory after the fact, with bond set at $400,000.
