On the night of Wednesday, August 16, 2023, 25-year-old Jamian Duncan of Alexandria, Louisiana, was fatally shot in the 2900 block of Levin Street. Officers arrived at about 10:50 PM to find multiple victims; five people in total had sustained gunshot wounds. The injured were taken to Rapides Regional Medical Center in private vehicles. Medical staff were unable to save Duncan, who was later identified by the Rapides Parish Coroner’s Office.

Alexandria Police are treating the incident as a homicide and opened an active investigation. No suspects have been publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. The motive has not been released. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Alexandria Police Detective Division or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Cenla.
