On the evening of January 29, 2023, 24-year-old Tori Nicoll Banks of Tickfaw was fatally shot while sitting in her vehicle at a gas station on Southwest Railroad Avenue in Hammond, Louisiana. Banks was in the car with two men when an argument is believed to have broken out and one of the men, identified as 19-year-old Johnathan Williams of Hammond, drew a firearm and shot her. The other male occupant was not injured.
That uninjured man tried to drive Banks to the hospital and flagged down a Hammond Police Department officer on Southwest Railroad Avenue near Old Covington Highway. Banks was taken to North Oaks Medical Center, where she later died. Detectives identified Williams as the suspected shooter and located him at his residence around 11:30 p.m.; he was taken into custody and booked on charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Does anyone have information about Banks, the men in the car, or that gas station that could help clarify what led to the shooting?
