On March 26, 2023, 38-year-old Deaundreya D. Caraway, a Black / African American woman, was found shot to death at a residence in the 1500 block of Southeast Quincy Street in Topeka, Kansas. She was pronounced dead at the scene; the shooting was reported as the city’s 12th homicide of the year.
Investigators named 52-year-old Jeffrey D. Arnold, known as Cheese, as a person of interest and sought public help locating him. Arnold was arrested on May 12, 2023, in Johnson County, Kansas, but that arrest was for unrelated offenses including fleeing or eluding a police officer and possession of marijuana. After review, the Shawnee County District Attorney concluded the death was justified as self-defense and declined to file charges in connection with Caraway’s shooting.
Are there details about Caraway’s last day, her connections in Topeka, or witnesses that anyone in the community can share?
