Darrell L. Stringfield, 40, of Jacksonville, Florida, died on March 6, 2009. He had been shot in October 2008 and later succumbed to his injuries; authorities have not established a motive for the shooting. He is survived by his wife, Catrilla Stringfield, and their children, Darrell Stringfield II and Shalethia.

Family members, particularly his mother, have pushed for answers and criticized what they describe as a code of silence in the community that may be impeding the investigation. The case remains unsolved and the family continues to seek justice and closure.
