Jimmy Smith III, 21, was shot and killed in his North Las Vegas home on October 2, 2023. Police responded about 4 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the 20 block of Hoke Edward Court and found Smith with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene and the Clark County coroner ruled the death a homicide. The shooting occurred in the presence of his girlfriend and two children.

Three people were arrested in connection with the case. On October 3, 21-year-old Keara Drayer was arrested and charged with open murder and challenging to fight with a deadly weapon. On October 25, 20-year-old Tavion Tinsley was arrested and charged with murder. A 19-year-old, Ava Rayburn, was also later arrested in relation to the incident.

Family described Smith as a devoted father, boyfriend, son, and brother who loved music and spent time in the studio. They set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses and support his children. If anyone has information about what happened that evening, please share it with investigators.
