John Stoner, 41, was found beaten and shot to death on March 5, 2008, in his Turtle Creek apartment in Jacksonville, Florida. A 69-year-old roommate, Leonard Davis, was also killed; both victims were discovered by John’s daughter after she returned from school. The apartment had been ransacked and a gun and money were missing from the scene.

Authorities have said both men sold marijuana from the apartment, and investigators considered a possible drug-related motive. The case went cold for years until the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit reopened the investigation in 2018, revisiting potential suspects including people who may have been minors at the time and seeking to apply updated forensic techniques.

John’s sister Siobhan moved from Pennsylvania to Jacksonville after the murders to push for justice. Authorities continue to request tips and Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information that could lead to an arrest. Does anyone have information about who might have been coming in and out of that apartment in early March 2008?
