On January 5, 2024, around 6:30 p.m., 17-year-old Te’Vion Rondale Cunningham was found unresponsive near Seabrooke Avenue and East 222nd Street in Euclid, Ohio, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Cunningham was a student at Ginn Academy and played football and basketball for Glenville High School; he had recently helped the Tarblooders win back-to-back state football championships. Family remembered him as an excellent young man with an incredible sense of humor and an infectious smile.
Investigators say Cunningham was trying to purchase a firearm when he was shot. Authorities arrested 22-year-old Meon’te Robinson of Cleveland on January 15, charging him with aggravated murder, and on February 23, 2024, 19-year-old Deshawn Wright was also taken into custody in connection with the case and charged with aggravated murder. The community has been left reeling and calls for more action on youth gun violence have followed. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Euclid Police Department.
