Eli Z. Wolfe, 43, of Goshen, Ohio, was shot and killed early on September 16, 2023. Police were called to a mobile home park on State Route 28 at about 2:15 AM for reports of gunfire; officers found Wolfe with gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old man, Brian Scott Cansler, was located near a nearby restaurant shortly after the shooting and was arrested after officers used a Taser to subdue him. Cansler has been charged with murder and appeared in court where bond was set at $1 million. Investigators have been searching for the firearm used in the shooting and have conducted sonar searches of local bodies of water.

The community has expressed sorrow over Wolfe’s death and authorities are asking residents to report any information or firearms that might be connected to the case. If anyone knew Eli Wolfe or has information about the night of September 16, please come forward.
