A road‑rage dispute in Norman, Oklahoma, ended in a fatal shooting on July 18, 2023. Christian David Gurrola Martinez, 41, and another driver stopped their vehicles in the 4100 block of West Main Street after an argument turned confrontational. During the encounter a firearm was produced and at about 4:23 p.m. at least one shot struck Gurrola Martinez.
Officers arriving at the scene found Gurrola Martinez in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound. He was given aid at the scene and taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The other driver, 62‑year‑old Mark Kottka, remained at the scene and was detained; he was later arrested and booked on a complaint of first‑degree murder. The Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the inquiry and is asking witnesses to come forward.
If anyone saw the dispute on West Main Street or has information about what led to the shooting, please share what is known with investigators.
