Thomas A. Guyette, 71, of Menasha, Wisconsin, was found dead at a residence on Chute Street in the early morning of February 24, 2024. Officers responding around 5:09 a.m. discovered he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. A man renting a basement room heard an argument between Guyette and his girlfriend, Catherine Ann Cheskie, followed by a single gunshot. The renter went upstairs, found Guyette on his bed and reported that Guyette said he was shot before calling 911.

Police focused their investigation on 55-year-old Catherine Ann Cheskie and reported finding gunshot residue on her hands; she was taken into custody and charged with first-degree intentional homicide. Cheskie denied shooting Guyette, at times saying she was legally blind and could not accurately fire a weapon, and gave inconsistent accounts about how the gun was handled after the shooting. The Menasha Police Department described the incident as isolated and said the victim and suspect were acquaintances.

Did anyone in Menasha know Guyette or Cheskie and have information about their relationship or what happened that morning?
