Brannon Jones, 17, was found dead inside his vehicle after it had been set on fire on December 26, 1999, in Pinellas Park, Florida. Firefighters from the Pinellas Park Fire Department extinguished the blaze and discovered his body. Although the fire badly damaged the car, an autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, indicating he was attacked before the vehicle was torched.
Investigators reported no obvious signs of a struggle either inside or outside the family residence where Jones lived, and no clear motive for the killing was identified. The case generated few significant leads and remains one of several unsolved homicides in Pinellas Park, with authorities continuing to seek public assistance.
If anyone has information about Brannon Jones, his activities on or before December 26, 1999, or unusual vehicles or people seen in his neighborhood that day, please come forward.
