Tatyanna P.M. Zech, 20, was shot and killed on the evening of May 7, 2023, at the Maplewood Commons apartment complex in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. She had moved back to her hometown from Chicago about two weeks earlier and was taking out the trash after a family cookout when gunfire erupted in the parking lot. An innocent bystander, she was struck and later died at St. Agnes Hospital.

The shooting grew out of a dispute among multiple people. Security footage captured the chaotic scene. The intended target was believed to be an 18-year-old man who was wounded; a 49-year-old man and his 18-year-old son inside their apartments were also hit by stray bullets. Investigators identified two primary suspects, 14-year-old Parise Larry and 17-year-old Antonio Johnston, who were charged as adults with first-degree intentional homicide and other felonies. Larry turned himself in a few days after the shooting; Johnston fled and was at large for months before being located in another city.
