Officer Emily Breidenbach, 32, of the Chetek Police Department was killed on April 8, 2023, during a traffic stop in Cameron, Wisconsin that turned into a shootout. The stop at about 3:39 PM involved 50-year-old Glenn Douglas Perry of New Auburn; Perry was being checked on because of an active warrant. During the encounter Perry produced a rifle and both Breidenbach and 23-year-old Cameron officer Hunter Scheel were shot and killed within about 45 seconds.
Breidenbach joined Chetek PD in 2019 after a nine-month stint with the Stoughton Police Department and handled the department’s therapy dog, Officer Grizz. Perry died after being taken to a nearby hospital; court records show he had prior legal troubles including a recent bench warrant and two 2020 domestic violence-related charges. The Wisconsin DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation reviewed the incident and on May 19, 2023 the Barron County District Attorney concluded the officers were justified in using deadly force.
Did anyone in the Cameron or Chetek area witness the traffic stop or have information about Glenn Douglas Perry’s actions that afternoon?
