A targeted shooting at the Mall in Columbia killed 17-year-old Angelo Little on July 27, 2024. Gunfire erupted in the food court; when it ended Angelo Little was found deceased. Authorities said the attack followed an altercation and noted Angelo had previously survived a separate shooting in April 2023 in which he was shot nine times.

Surveillance footage became central to the investigation, showing a suspect fleeing the scene. Howard County Police identified 17-year-old William Marshall III, also known as Junior, as the person they believed had targeted Angelo and sought a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. The search for Marshall involved local and federal law enforcement and generated numerous tips from the public.
