Joseph Walker Patton was a 76-year-old World War II veteran and paper mill worker who was found dead in his pickup truck in Panama City, Florida. He was last seen alive the evening of February 6, 1994. Around 11:00 pm that night a light blue 1991 Ford pickup registered to him was seen parked on Mercedes Avenue with its engine and headlights on for about 30 minutes; one witness later reported seeing an unidentified man washing himself at a nearby water fountain.
Authorities found Joseph the next morning at 7:43 am face-down in the passenger seat of the truck in a pool of blood. He had been struck on the head and suffered a fatal severe laceration to the throat. Investigators recovered Joseph’s truck keys and additional blood inside an apartment in the area but did not disclose whether that blood was compared to his.
Does anyone who lived in Panama City or Callaway in February 1994 remember seeing the truck, the unidentified man, or anything unusual that night?
