A routine late-night car meetup in Accokeek, Maryland, ended in violence on June 13, 2024. Around 11:45 p.m. at the Manokeek Village shopping center parking lot on the 7000 block of Berry Road, gunfire broke out and 48-year-old Sheldon Proctor of Waldorf was fatally shot. Patrick Savoy, 55, of Charlotte Hall was also killed; a third person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and got to a hospital on his own.

Proctor’s family described him as kind-hearted with a warm smile who loved people and cars. A childhood passion passed down from his father kept him involved in the car community despite being paralyzed from the chest down in a teenage dirt bike accident; he used a motorized scooter to get around.

The Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit is investigating to determine a motive and identify suspects. No arrests have been announced and a reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment. If anyone attended that meetup or has information about the shooting, please come forward to investigators.
