Brookes Lamar Dashiell, a 36-year-old Salisbury resident, was shot on June 7, 2024, around 12:30 p.m. Deputies found him inside his Ford F-150 on the 900 block of Mineola Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Tidal Health Emergency Room and later pronounced dead; the death was ruled a homicide.

Nearby schools including West Salisbury Elementary, Chipman Elementary, and Salisbury Middle School were briefly placed on Shelter in Place until the scene was secured. No arrests have been announced and no suspects have been identified publicly; authorities are seeking tips and offered a cash reward through Crime Solvers.
