A quiet Severn neighborhood was broken by gunfire at about 2:45 a.m. on May 15, 2023. Officers were dispatched to the 8100 block of Meade Village Road and found 37-year-old David Joseph Bond Jr. suffering apparent gunshot wounds. Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene and the case was classified as a homicide.

Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit opened an active investigation. In the early stages investigators had not identified a suspect and released no further details. Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit or use the anonymous tip line.
