In the early hours of March 3, 2023, multiple shots were reported near Pine Street at Boundary Avenue and on North Drive in Cambridge, Maryland. ShotSpotter and calls to the Dorchester County Emergency Operations Center led officers to the scene, where 22-year-old Cambridge resident Daiquan Elijah Taylor was found with a gunshot wound. He was taken to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester but was pronounced dead; an autopsy ruled the death a homicide.

Known to friends and family as Bookie, Taylor was a father and worked at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Cambridge. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was called in to lead the investigation, and authorities have asked anyone with information to contact the Cambridge Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division or the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit; callers can remain anonymous. No arrests have been announced and the case remains unsolved.

If anyone knew Daiquan, was in that area on March 3, 2023, or has information about the shooting, please come forward to investigators.
