On a cold night in January 2023, 31-year-old Montoya Givens disappeared along with friends and fellow aspiring rappers Armani Kelly and Dante Wicker after a scheduled performance at Lounge 31 in Detroit was unexpectedly canceled. All three stopped communicating that night and their families filed missing person reports.

The search ended on February 2, 2023, when their bodies were discovered concealed under debris in the basement of a derelict apartment building in Highland Park, Michigan. All three had died of multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators say the men were likely killed upstairs and then moved to the basement.

Police located a stolen vehicle belonging to Armani Kelly, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old for possession of the car; that teen was not immediately tied to the killings. Authorities later announced three people had been taken into custody, including one arrested in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Michigan State Police said they believe the slayings were gang-related and that suspects have been identified. Montoya had recently been released from prison and was rebuilding his life; his mother described her grief and fear after losing a son she had only recently begun to reconnect with.

If anyone knew Montoya, where he spent time, or has information about the events of that January night, please come forward.
