On June 22, 1973, 76-year-old Helen Lazette was found brutally murdered in her home on 74th Avenue North in Pinellas Park, Florida. Investigators determined she had been stabbed multiple times and that there were indications of a sexual assault. The scene showed no signs of forced entry, suggesting the attacker may have gained access by another means or could have been someone Lazette knew.
Police at the time reported few leads and no identified suspects. The case remains open in the Pinellas Park Police Department cold case files; authorities have periodically appealed to the public for information and say even small tips could be important. There is no closure for Lazette’s family and the community after this violent death during a period that saw several other serious incidents in the area.
If anyone has information about Helen Lazette, her movements before June 22, 1973, or anyone seen near her home at that time, please contact the Pinellas Park Police Department.
