Jamarcus Lidell Smith, a 36-year-old Black man, was fatally shot multiple times inside his vehicle in the Schoolhouse Bottom area of Lexington, Mississippi, on the evening of June 2, 2024. Holmes County and Lexington law enforcement were notified, but the shooter or shooters had left before officers arrived. Smith’s death was one of two homicides in Holmes County that day.

Authorities opened an active investigation and have not publicly identified suspects or made arrests. Family and friends held a funeral service for Smith on June 22, 2024, at Mount Olive MB Church in Lexington, followed by burial at the Smith Family Cemetery.
